WildCookham Film Festival
In association with the Cookham Festival

WildCookham challenges budding film-makers to create great films about our local wildlife.  With categories for all ages we're looking for short films shot on your camera or smartphone which showcase any aspects of thae natural world in and around Cookham - its wonders and beauty, the surprises, the challenges it faces.  It's up to you and we'll provide guidance along the way with expert tutorials and other advice.

Rules

  1. Subject to the following rules there is no restraint on your creativity, however you must be the person who captures your footage and edits it.

  2. Films will be judged in each category based on its camera work, technical quality, story telling and originality. Their decisions will be final.

  3. There will be three categories:

    • Junior: 11 or under on 1st May 2021

    • Young Adult: between 12 -17 on 1st May 2021

    • All ages

  4. There are no restrictions on where an entrant lives but the video must have been taken in an area within 5 miles of Cookham.

  5. Films should be between 2-8 minutes in length including titles.

  6. Entries can be made as individual or family, and you can enter up to 3 films as separate entries per family/individual.

  7. The competition is open to everyone except professional filmmakers/videographers (defined as those who make more than half of their annual income from filmmaking).

  8. In order to enlist for the competition please fill in the form below or email wildcookham@cookhamfestival.org.uk with your details, so that we can stay in touch with you throughout the process.

  9. The creator of each film will retain its copyright, but by submitting an entry to the competition you are giving the Cookham Festival and WildCookham the right freely to display at events, on their websites and on the WildCookham YouTube channel. We cannot accept entries which include copywritten material, specifically music and imagery. Youtube have a great royalty free music library https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music?nv=1 whichcan be used in any of your films.

  10. Bi-Monthly film workshops will be organised throughout the competition window so entrants can get feedback from the team and ideas for different approaches.

  11. All films submitted will be entered for an initial long list selection which will take place before the end of April 2021. The selected films will also be submitted to a panel of judges who will rate entries and issue prizes in each category. The judges will comprise representatives from WildCookham, Cookham Festival and at least one other including a notable wildlife expert. On a set date, shortlisted entries will be shown at a venue as part of the Cookham Festival – TBA.

  12. If for any reason the Cookham Festival does not take place the WildCookham Film Festival competition will still go ahead.

  13. The organisers reserve the right to change the rules at any time.
